Support Matt Hayes for Precinct 7 Justice of the Peace
These words are more than just talk with Matt. As the son of an Army Colonel and a Navy veteran,
Matt grew up in a family that believed in service to others and service to America. That belief has been reflected throughout his life.
While serving as judge, Matt was frequently thanked by litigants in court cases because he took the time to help them understand what was happening in the courtroom.
Attorneys also often expressed how organized and efficiently the court operated and the friendly demeanor of the entire staff.
The county commissioners appreciated that Matt efficiently used the funds allocated to his court and came in below budget every year.
Above all, Matt ensured that he understood the law, listened to the facts presented and rendered fair and impartial justice in every case.
Matt and Brenda began and grew their own business providing contraband (drugs, alcohol, gunpowder, and abused medications) and explosive detection canine services to schools and local industries (in short - drug and bomb dog service). Starting with only 2 dogs, over 20 years ago, they now employ over a dozen people, and they serve over 150 school districts, private schools, and many other businesses and industries. Matt spent a decade running US and international manufacturing plants and started a quick oil change business for his in-laws while in college and long before the big chain stores existed. Matt is currently licensed to sell insurance. Matt and Brenda have been married for over 44 years and have three children by birth, one by adoption, several foster kids, and one beautiful granddaughter.
Matt enlisted in the US Marines where his exemplary performance was recognized with 2 meritorious promotions in 3 years. Upon leaving active duty, Matt joined the Reserves while attending college and started a successful business. Graduating from the University of Houston with a BBA (Cum Laude), Matt re-entered the Marines for 5 more years and rose to the rank of Captain. Later, Matt earned an MBA (with High Honors) from Oklahoma City University. Matt has also attended Northeastern and Stanford Universities, Mobil's University of OPP, Marine Officers Basic School, and many more formal and informal training opportunities. Each year while on the bench, Matt acquired more than double the hours of training required, ensuring that he fully understood the law.
Matt Hayes has been part of this community for many years and worked tirelessly to make it a better place. He helped establish the TeufelHunden Foundation, a group of Marines that raise tens of thousands of dollars every year to support local charities such as Harvesting In Mansfield Ministries and All-Star Equestrian as well as national military organizations that assist veterans, their families, and their children.
Matt and Brenda are on the Pastoral Care Team at North Elevation Church. They lead Financial Peace seminars and provide marriage and individual counseling. Matt has also been ordained as a Christian Minister through the church.
Matt has volunteered for years to teach ethics to a statewide trade association. Often a very dull subject, Matt has made it the class to attend at their annual convention. The Tarrant Bar Association (the lawyers) even asked Matt to teach their ethics class.
Matt previously served on the board of directors of the Houston chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers, co-founded the Friendswood Advocates for Gifted and Talented Students, is a past president of the board for Friendswood Christian School, Scoutmastered for many years, and has served as a deacon at a couple of churches over the years. Matt has served in a multitude of precinct, district, and state offices in the Republican Party.
